Right place, right time...
On love and loss
“We all experience this mystery in our lives in some ways, however small, whether we see ourselves as “spiritual” or not. We find ourselves in the right place at the right time, ready and able to receive blessings without knowing just how we got there.” -Bell Hooks
I was reading “All About Love” the day my Dad died. His death came as no surprise, so I think It’s all I could consume at the time. Like a weighted blanket made up of words that worked like a salve for the pain.
When I think about being at the right place at the right time, I think about what Bell Hooks is saying about making ourselves available. How the challenges we face give us the opportunity to find ourselves in the moment in a way we’ve never experienced. All of the sudden, every little thing has new meaning.
It’s been just over two years since he passed and we just received his ashes. We gave his body to science, so the process is much longer when doing this. Me and sisters decided we’ll spread his ashes at a few of his favorite places in nature on his Birthday this Summer.
I used to think that I needed something significant for closure, but having this time between his death and a “service” has made me process in a new way. I’ve noticed more. I hear one of his favorite songs and it feels like one of those “right place right time” moments.

So sweet❤️
